Videos

Below here are examples of the work I have produced using Apple’s iMovie. All of the footage in the videos was shot and edited together by me. While working on these, I learned the basics of iMovie and how to effectively use the extensive trimming tools to create videos and also how to balance audio levels. Further descriptions of the videos and what my thought process was for each are below.
The video above is an advertisement designed to show off how easy to use the Snap cameras are and how they are perfect for anybody whether they have previous knowledge about cameras or have never owned one before. I made sure to provide enough information about the camera and where the viewer should go if they have questions or want to learn more. I made this clear by having the information presented verbally and also have text appear on the screen to make sure the viewer has the appropriate contact information. Audio was a main focus of mine when I edited the video because I wanted to make sure the dialogue has consistent audio levels through the video and prevent it from getting too loud and spiking. The background music was also important to edit because I had to find an appropriate song that fit with the tone of the video and make sure it was an appropriate length so it does not interfere with the dialogue. The other focus of mine was the pacing of the video and putting the right clips in a smart order that makes sense to the viewer. Along with the audio, those were the areas I found the most important to making a good advertisement that the company would be happy to use themselves to sell their product.

This video is a tutorial on how to correctly tie a dress tie. It is targeted at young men in their early teenage years that are possibly attending their first formal event or a school dance. I think viewers in that demographic are able to relate to me as I am a similar age and have been in their situation. I did not use a lot of time setting up the video and introducing it as I felt it was important to get right to the point as anyone watching it most likely is in the process of getting dressed and in a rush to get ready. Along with explaining how to tie it, I physically tie one myself so the viewer can learn visually or just by listening and they compliment each other well. The order of the clips is very important since putting on a tie has a specific order to it so it would have been very confusing to not put the appropriate steps in the right order. I did have to adjust the audio and critique it as my voice spiked a lot originally so I had to reduce it to an appropriate level. I felt there wasn’t a place for a lot of extra effects or background music in this video since I set out to make it an easy to understand tutorial so I did not want to have anything that could distract the viewer.
